While the White House welcomes a new president, we look at an American treasure that always gets the public's vote. Siesta Beach is an award winning strip of sand that is finer than sugar and made of quartz.
Beach Location
Siesta Key is a barrier island off of the central western coast of Florida, situated between Sarasota Bay and the Gulf of Mexico. Siesta Beach stretches from a site named Point of Rocks just below the middle point of Siesta Key.
Often considered Siesta Key's premier claim to fame, Siesta Beach has been consistently rated among the top ten beaches of Florida, the USA, and even the world.

Unlike beaches elsewhere that are made up mostly of coral, Siesta Beach's sand is 99 per cent quartz, so even on the hottest days the sand is so reflective that it feels cool underfoot.
It's believed that the sand on Siesta Beach is millions of years old and started in the Appalachians, before flowing down the rivers to be eventually deposited on the shores of Siesta Key.
Beach lovers flock to these silky shores to take advantage of the wide expanse of soft, white, fine sand and the clear, blue, tranquil waters of the Gulf. The sand near the water edge is firm enough to ride a bike or push along a child buggy.
Siesta Beach is perfect for strolling along, shell collecting, or taking up more active pursuits like renting a catamaran or kayak from one of the many beach concessionaires.
One of Florida's best people-watching beaches, it has a relaxed crowd of all ages and is frequented by Sarasota's toned, tanned, young, and beautiful brigade.
