Set between Rome and Naples, Sperlonga Beach is blessed with soft sand and calm waters, making it a true national treasure.

Beach Location

Sperlonga is a coastal town in the province of Latina, in Italy. It lies on the Ulysses coast, about half way between the capital city of Rome to the north and the port town of Naples further south.

Surrounding towns include Terracina to the West, Fondi to the North, Itri to the North-East, and Gaeta to the East.

The long and sandy beach resort of Sperlonga has been described in many travel brochures as ‘the Jewel of the Mediterranean'.

Sperlonga Beach is split into two main sections. To the north of the town lies the more modern and commercial segment of the beach, whilst in the south the area remains unspoilt.

The beach has soft sand, calm waters and is extremely popular with locals and streams of tourists, mainly from Italy, who head for the area during the peak months of June, July and August.

The beach also has a reputation for being pricey, whether it's the rental of sun-beds, deck-chairs, parasols and pedalos or the cost of a meal and refreshing drink at one of the beach-bars that pepper the beach.

It is customary that the deck-chairs are formed in a semi circle, rather than a straight line, to promote conversations between bathers and encourage a friendlier atmosphere.
