Draft Excluders and a weird landlord!

Hi,

I moved into our new flat just over 4 weeks ago with 2 more tenants (friends). Our landlord just got back from his holiday which meant we could not reach him during this time and it’s the first time we spoke to him!! We had some issues and he is coming around tm but from what quick discussion I had with him he seems rather … mhhh :(

We have just a few small issues and no inventory list which we hope to get sorted out but one issue is rather annoying.
We have an old house and some lovely crap 1940 british single glass wooden windows (amazing if you come from Europe). You can put your finger in any of the corners of the windows or gaps between the bottom and top part (sliding windows which go up and down) and you can just feel the draft. 3 Windows in a bedroom makes for a lot of air movement so we decided to get some draft excluders which did help out a lot!

But speaking to our landlord today he got angry that we put draft excluders onto the windows (just the frames not actually the glass) cause we could scratch the glass (?) and its not part of the windows or could damage the “material”…. And he asked us to take down the draft excluders till he has a look tomorrow!?

Frankly I am a bit worried cause it sounds like he won’t be a very good landlord and I am wondering what your advice is in regards to draft excluders + window frame (wood which is painted with a white pain (I am certain it wont stain) is.

Without draft excluders its like having 3 windows open and the entrance to our flat and I am not going to live without them.
