Living with the Landlord

hello well I feel into a oh too common situation where my roomate/landlord went psycho. Help after living there a year she said I didn't need to pay a months rent and now after she moved someelse into the place - I said I'd move planning on giving her plenty of notice in order to find a place.. she didn't take that well so for a month i was homeless and now after -- she evicted me saying I needed to get my stuff out ASAP. When it comes to the security deposit she is saying it is for that 'free' months rent ?
Help ?? original lease is in writting but she never gave me a lease to sign for another year. She is stating that the free month rent is for another lease signed.
