First of all, you must establish whether or not you qualify for an extension or for purchase of the lease under the 1993 leasehold reform act. More information about this can be found on the LEASE website: http://www.lease-advice.org
(hope you don't mind me doing that webmaster!)If your property does qualify, then you can apply for a vesting order through the county court. This can be done on either an individual or collective basis.
You will then need to show that you qualify and satisfy the court that the freeholder can't be found.
If the order is granted, you will then need to apply to the Leasehold Valuation Tribunal to set the price of the purchase or extension. They will independently assess it and then revert you back to the county court, where a district judge will execute teh extension or purchase.
