My house is being used as a brothel...

I am a Landlord, and have had a call from someone saying my house is being used as a brothel! Does anyone know what my legal implication is?

If the tenant is convicted, then this can warrant their eviction under discretionary ground 14:

Ground 14: The tenant, or someone living in or visiting the property:

has caused, or is likely to cause, a nuisance or annoyance to someone living in or visiting the locality; or,
has been convicted of using the property, or allowing it to be used, for immoral or illegal purposes, or an arrestable offence committed in the property or in the locality.

With this ground for possession you can start possession proceedings as soon as you have served notice on the tenant.

I am currently making a programme about tenants from hell for ITV1.

As your post is over a month old I presume you have resolved the situation, however I would still very much like to hear from you. Your tenant may be a serial bad tenant who might have caused similar trouble in the past.

I'm sure landlords from hell will be next - we do come across a lot of examples, but for the moment it's Tenants from Hell.

If you let it carry on and the property is a leasehold, you may face forfeiture, but only if the freeholder is able and inclined to prove that you knowingly let the situation continue.

Hello,

I am conducting some research for http://www.192.com/ on how property developers/investors/landlords and tenants are using 192.com when making property choices.

If anyone that has used the website to find people/property/areas etc could let me know your feedback on how useful you find the site or how you are using it I would be extremely grateful.
