Telegraph Pole

I have just returned from work to find that sometime during the day BT have erected a 20ft telegraph pole right outside my house...
The only warning I received was a letter telling me some work was going to be carried out on my line in the near future.
Will this detract from the value of my house and what if anything can I do about it.
