The stress of moving

Well, they warned me buying a house would be stressful and it sure is!

It is now over 3 weeks since we went to our solicitor to pay approx £10000 deposit and sign the contracts. And 3 weeks since both the solicitor and the estate agent said exchange would be "within 24/48 hours" and completion on 8th March. 3 weeks later, and the other side still haven't signed their contract so we haven't got a clue when or how much longer. Their solicitor is now even refusing to talk to our solicitor or the estate agent.

Arrrgghhh, it's driving me mad...

I know what you mean. I am supposedly a week away from moving but we haven't exchanged contracts yet and the solicitors never return your calls. When is the government going to simplyfy the house buying process so that we don't have a nervous breakdown every time we decide to move!

I hope all goes well...I've got my fingers and toes crossed.

Tell me about it.......we are buying new - After having our deadline extended for the second time we went to the solicitors to sign our part of the agreement - it's been a long haul but we managed to get everything sorted on our side - just found out that our buyers have got to cash in a life policy in order to get their mortgage - so it looks like the deadline will pass, we'll lose all the money we've payed out - deposits, searches etc. Surely the their solictors should have told us all this beforehand??!! As far as we're aware there is no comeback....grrrrrrrrrr......why even attempt to buy a house with no bloody money!!

I am just glad that I am not the only one.

I did up my house to sell whilst i was renting elsewhere. So I started the process off of selling and found a purchaser the minute I put it on the Market and for the full asking price. Hooray! 3 months down the line, the purchaser pulls out. 3 months!

In the meantime I had found somewhere else to buy. I thought as the sale of my house was ahead, things should go smoothly. But now I am in a chain.

I managed to find another purchaser the minute the last one decided not to buy and for the full asking price. 3 weeks later my solicitor can't contact his solicitor, my estate agent can't contact him, his solicitor or his mortgage advisor to arrange the survey. Looks like another bloody timewaster. So my house is back on the market and we are facing loosing the house we are trying to buy along with the deposit, search fees and survey fees.

I tell you guys something, I am sick to death of timewasting purchasers.
