Not really, The payment of this interest will delay Northern Rock from instigating proceedings for possession because, as far as they are concerned, the mortgage account is in order. They don't care where the interest comes from so long as it is paid, but think it through: The property is in boyfriends name. So assuming the mortgage in its entirity is paid off, the property is owned by him. He is dead, so as he left no will intestacy rules apply in which the house is divided up between his living relatives. As there was no will, his girlfriend gets NOTHING. Now, after (is it?) 13 years she may be able to exercise "squatters rights" which will enable her to exercise ownership once the mortgage is paid, but she is in a very insecure position and I suggest she takes legal advice as to her situation. It is also reasonable to consider that in the future she may acquire another boyfriend which again would alter the situation. P.P. (Whos namesake didn't quite beat the Wright brothers)
