Cape Verde tourism kick starts property market

Cape Verde's expanding tourism industry is giving the country's property a kick start.

The islands' real estate market should benefit from the increasing number of visitors, agents have said, as tourists are predicted to reach 1 million by 2015.

"[This is] fantastic news for emerging market property investors," commented Adam Cornwell, managing director of Feltrim International. "[Cape Verde is a] credible winter sun alternative to the Canary Islands but far more affordable."

The effect may already be taking place, judging by's latest Top of the Props report, which saw Cape Verde climb three places to become the tenth most popular property destination in the world.
