Cityscape Abu Dhabi sees record attendance

Cityscape Abu Dhabi enjoyed record attendance last month, with more than 15,000 people visiting the event.

The property showcase took place at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre from 12th to 14th April, with market experts, designers, architects, consultants and buyers all flocking to view the properties on display from local, regional and international developers.

A total of 15,023 visitors walked through the doors over the three days, up compared to 2015 and a record turnout, despite slowing economy growth and the looming spectre of low oil prices. More than 300 delegates also attended the conference, Carlo Schembri, the exhibition manager at Informa Middle East, told Trade Arabia.

Numerous property developments were launched, while hundreds of units were sold, say the organisers.

Developers exhibiting at Cityscape Abu Dhabi included Eagle Hills, Mubadala Real Estate and Infrastructure, and Golden Season Property Management, with the increased footfall and number of sales highlighting an underlying consumer confidence in the UAE’s real estate market.

Khalid Abu Houf, a senior property consultant from Abu Dhabi, commented: “I come to Cityscape Abu Dhabi to see new projects in and out of the country, see the prices, and get information about the market – whether it’s going up or down…. This time it feels there are more projects on show, like Yas Acres from Aldar, or Bloom Gardens’ phase four.”

Brett Gregory-Peake, CEO of Royal Park Mauritius, added they have seen a “50 per cent increase” in interest, with people investing “for a variety of different reasons”, including access to facilities, lifestyle and for financial safety and maintaining capital.

“Bloom Holding was just one example of the numerous success stories, selling 70 per cent of their new project Faya half-way through the show and reporting that sales continued to increase to 90 per cent in the two weeks following the exhibition,” commented Schembri.
