Could this be the Obamas’ new home?

It’s no secret who’s moving into the White House next year, but there is certainly a lot of mystery surrounding where its current residents will move to, come January 2017. We already know that Barack and Michelle Obama, and their children, will rent a nine-bedroom home in Washington D.C. while they find their feet in a non-presidential household, but what after that?

Enter the latest rumour, which is that they are eyeing up a pad in the desert community of Rancho Mirage, near Palm Springs, California. The rumours are just that, with no confirmation yet, but sources have said it is a “done deal”, with The New York Post also saying they will hire designer (and friend) Michael S. Smith to handle the interior decor for their new home, adding that they have also bought a holiday getaway in Hawaii.

Paul SW Anderson sells Venice home

Hollywood director Paul SW Anderson has sold his Venice home for a tidy $3.5 million.

The Resident Evil helmer had no nastiness with his two-storey Californian residence, which he first bought back in 1999 for $1.325 million. The 2,622-square-foot home boasts three bedrooms and 2.5 bathroms, while outside is a small terrace with a built-in fire pit, for roasty canal-side treats, and on top sits a roof terrace with wrap-around views and a spa tub.

All that was enough to help almost triple his money on the home, which was sold off-market this month. The sum will reinforce the healthy real estate portfolio owned by Anderson and his wife, model and actress Milla Jovovich, which includes separately and jointly owned properties, ranging from a $8.5 million Beverly Hills home to a $2.2 million contemporary pad in the Post Office area.

Rufus Wainwright snaps up enchanted Hollywood Hills home

The words “dream” and “property” may go together as often as Rufus Wainwright’s Cigarettes and Chocolate Milk, but in the case of the singer’s newest purchase, they really do make a smart fit.

The musician has just purchased a Hollywood Hills home that screams fairytale retrait, boasting all the features a young Disney fan could wish for, from a half-oval front door and sunken living room to floor-to-ceiling bookcases, a kitchen paved entirely with slate stones and, best of all, a charming footbridge. With three bedrooms and baths, all for $1.45 million, the result is genuinely enchanting.
