Emerging Markets Explored: South Africa

Looking for a new investment location? We’re here to help, with a weekly exploration of emerging markets around the world.

This week we’re off to South Africa. While the country’s property market has been fairly turbulent in the past, it’s a relatively stable market to invest in, with high rental yields in Johannesburg and hot holiday lets in Cape Town. That being said, according to Moneyweb, South Africa’s property has seen a massive upward surge of late, although this is largely focused on the retail side of the market. Global Property Guide, meanwhile, reports an increase in the value of large homes and good rental yields on city property.

However you slice it, an investment here has potential; increasing value, a decent return and if nothing else, a good dose of sun year round.
