HIM frontman Ville Valo has put his home up for sale – and you’ve never seen a house quite like it.
The unique tower was built way back in 1840, 150 years before Valo formed the Finnish rock band with guitarist Mikko “Linde” Lindström, and bassist Mikko “Migé” Paananen.
The property is located in Munkkiniemi and was designed by Anders Fredrik Granstedt as the nearby manor’s granary – until the 1930s, when the tower was converted into a residential property. With five storeys, beamed ceilings and exposed brick, the building has lost none of its historical character – although Valo renovated significantly in 2014, giving the period structure a stylish blend of modern decor and old-school architecture.
That renovation has helped to push up the distinctive property’s worth, with Valo’s original purchase price of 1.29 million euros in 2006 now rising to an impressive 2.6 million euros.
HIM, meanwhile, have proven just as historic in the music world, becoming the first Finnish band to have a gold album in the US. While Valo won the Golden God award in 2004 from heavy metal magazine Metal Hammer, his magnificent castle-like home is yet to bag any accolades. Selling the home for more than 100,000 euros for every year he has lived there, though, is a prize enough in itself.

Pink slashes asking price for Malibu pad
Ville Valo is not the only musician searching for a buyer this month, with pop-rocker Pink slashing the price of her Malibu pad.
Pink and her wife, truck racer Carey Hart, bought the 1.2-acre estate back in 2010 for $11.85 million, before listing the property last year for $13.995 million. Now, though, the six-bedroom home (with at least five fireplaces) has come back on the market at a discounted price of $12.995 million. What does that get you exactly? In addition to the land, the main property and an attached guesthouse for staff, you also get access to a private path to the beach.
Jennifer Lopez house-hunting in Bel-Air
Jennifer Lopez has been house-hunting in Bel-Air for some time, but rumour has it from Real Estalker’s gossip scouts that she has found a pad that she’s looking to buy: Sela Ward’s $40m eight-plus-acre estate, which comes complete with multi-level mansion, six firepolaces, an infinity pool, a 30-seat cinema and master suite with double dressing rooms. It’s hard to see why she likes it so much.Google+
