It is a picturesque village first recorded in the Domesday Book.
But life for the residents of Askham Richard could soon change as much of the "chocolate-box" village has been put up for sale by its landlord.
Estate agents have been instructed to sell all of the farms and residential properties that make up the North Yorkshire estate, complete with shooting rights to its 800 acres.
For anyone with £6.5 million, it is a rare opportunity to buy three farms, 14 residential properties and 54 acres of woodland, all at once.
The estate has historically made up the greater part of the village, which is four miles from York.
