Transport links between the USA and Brazil are set to be enhanced before the end of the year, according to American Airlines
The hosting of the FIFA World Cup in 2014 has already kicked off a new wave of interest in Brazil, and news that new direct routes to the South American nation will be launched by American Airlines, has only enhanced its appeal.
The airline will offer direct routes from the Miami
to destinations including Belo Horizonte, Salvador
de Bahia and Recife,
starting in November of this year.
American Airlines' Peter Dolara, said, "We are excited about expanding into Brazil. It is a
dynamic country in so many ways.
"The new direct routes will put Brazil conveniently and easily
within reach," Mr Dolara added.
The Brazilian Government had already confirmed that it would be investing in
improving the country's airports prior to these new routes being announced.
The upgrades will be carried out ahead of the FIFA World Cup in 2014, which is
being staged in cities across the country, such as Rio de Janeiro.
Authorities are expecting a significant increase in the number of people
passing through Brazil's
airports throughout the duration of the tournament.
Brazil has now set its sights on hosting the 2016 Olympic Games.
