Cheryl and Ashley Cole stand to lose more than £300,000 on their Surrey mansion if it is sold, experts predicted...

The property was bought by the Coles in October 2007, for £3,550,000, but has since dropped in value to £3,247,537, according to figures compiled by property website Zoopla. It means a loss of £302,463 if it is sold.

The Girls Aloud singer and X-Factor judge announced her decision to end the three-and-a-half year marriage to the Chelsea and England star following claims the footballer slept with an American woman during Chelsea's pre-season tour in Seattle last year.

As part of the separation, the couple will begin the painful proves of deciding what to do with their home, Hurtmore House.

Lawrence Hall, a spokesman for Zoopla.co.uk, said: "If the Coles managed to sell their Surrey mansion, they'd stand to make a loss in the current climate and this may well come as a shock for the couple who had the Midas touch.

"However looking at other footballer pads it is likely that the property may well have a unique decorative interior and style for which a specific buyer may be willing to pay a premium for."

The couple has a joint fortune of £17 million, according to the most recent "rich lists".

Before their 2006 wedding, the Girls Aloud singer said she found the idea of a prenuptial agreement "disgusting".

"I think that's defeating the point. We're getting married because we're committing ourselves to each other to spend the rest of our lives together. No ifs and buts," she said.

"I think [pre-nups] are disgusting. I could understand if you're 93 and you've got billions of pounds and this 24-year-old wants to marry you in a month. But we're a work in progress, we're going to build our married life together not thinking about if it ever ends."
