A new report has revealed some amazing figures relating to Bulgaria's apartment boom.
According to the report by National Statistical Institute of Bulgaria (NSIB), a total of 2,218 new apartment buildings were built in Bulgaria during 2007.
That is a staggering average of 184 apartment buildings constructed each month!
The report further found that:
- The Black Sea port cities of Varna and Burgas led the way with 508 and 451 new residential buildings respectively.
- The capital Sofia ranked third with 193 new apartment buildings
- Plovdiv constructed 176 apartment buildings.
The new construction has brought 18,204 new apartments, increasing the total number of homes in the country to 3.7m.
Of these 2.7m are in the cities and towns (527,000 in the capital Sofia), and 1.3m are located in the villages.
