Most famous for Disneyland, Orlando in Florida is realising that pixie dust and magic don't make eco friendly homes, and are doing something about it with a new eco city.
Orlando, Florida is a big hitter in the world of international property investors. Now, those interested in eco friendly living can snap up a home in Florida's new eco-city.
The new eco city, named Destiny, close to Orlando, will be using water to provide transport and to prevent urban sprawl.
Destiny will have a number of navigable waterways, alongside
a floating market and paths for cycling and hiking under details just revealed,
according to local newspaper the Orlando
Sentinel.
Construction on the site of the new eco town, which is mainly farmland at
present, is due to start in 2011, with its population potentially reaching
250,000 in 50 years. The city will contain the first energy farm in the USA, which
supports the farming of fuel crops such as algae, making it even more
sustainable.
