Energy efficiency has become one of the most important attributes buyers want from a new home, according to a YouGov survey...
It found that buyers wanted a garden or outdoor space first (53 per cent), followed by a garage (47 per cent), while energy and environmentally-friendly features was in third place (41 per cent).
The survey, carried out for the New Homes Marketing Board, found that only 16 per cent looked for a convenient location - suggesting that despite buyers' emphasis on a ‘green' property, most would happily spend their time driving to shops, work and schools.
Energy efficiency even came above value-for-money in the survey, coming in at fourth place (33 per cent).
The total sample size was 2,306 adults.
