Mayor of London Boris Johnson has been urged to do more in his efforts to secure extra funding for the extended East London line...
The London Assembly's Transport Committee has met with the mayor to press him to push harder in his negotiations with Transport for London and the Department for Transport to get extra funding for phase two of the scheme.
Such an extension could help to raise the value of London property in areas that will enjoy better transport links as a result of the development.
The East London line was formerly part of the underground network, running between Shoreditch and two stations in New Cross.
Now being transferred to the London Overground system, the new line will have expanded from its original nine stations to 30 stations once all the proposed phases are completed, extending it further north, south and west.
