Kuwait's plans for a new passenger building for its International Airport aim to turn the country into a financial and trade centre
The leader of Kuwait, Emir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, has made public his desires that the country will become a leading international financial centre.
In a bid to achieve this, The Ministry of
Public Works is focusing much of its resources and manpower in constructing the
new passenger building at the International airport.
The ministry is currently talking with various companies from
all over the world and will soon choose one to design and build the new building.
A source from the ministry indicated that the new building
would raise the capacity of airport passengers from seven million passengers
per year up to 20 million passengers per year.
The new building will be designed with the latest and
advanced international specifications and will have state-of-the-art equipment.
Once the airport building is complete in 2010, it is hoped that Kuwait International Airport will be one of the leading airports in the Middle East, said a source from the Kuwait Times newspaper.
