Tourism in the Turkish resort of Dalaman is likely to be boosted by forthcoming accessibility improvements.
Weekly flights to the popular holiday destination of Dalaman on Turkey's southwest coast will be launched from Aberdeen in May, according
to budget airline Flyglobespan.
This means that Dalaman will be far more easily accessible to people living in
the vicinity of the Scottish city, thereby enhancing its appeal to potential
visitors.
The launch of new flights to the region could also make it more attractive to
prospective property investors, as growth in the tourist trade could fuel extra
demand for rental accommodation.
UK
visitors fly to Dalaman as it serves as a gateway to other seaside resorts to
the west and east, such as Marmaris, Fethiye, KöyceÄŸiz, Dalyan, Ölüdeniz and
Hisarönü.
Rick Green of Flyglobespan said, "Turkey, with its rich culture,
great beach resorts and reputation as a value-for-money destination, is bound
to be a winner.
"Services to Dalaman are being introduced in response to demand from
customers," Mr Green added.
According to the Association of British Travel Agents, the European country has
become one of the main hotspots for holidaymakers from the UK this summer,
with the number of bookings rising by 20% year-on-year.
