The banking watchdog has announced that 36,000 mortgage accounts are at least three months behind in repayments...
Loans worth a total of 6.9 billion euro are failing, the Financial Regulator said, adding that the 36,438 figure for the three months to June is around 4,500 higher than that of the previous quarter.
Most accounts are actually six months behind: the watchdog said 24,797 are 180 days behind with payments.
At the end of March, 32,321 accounts were in arrears for 90 days or more.
The quarterly report also said 387 homes were repossessed in the year to the end of June.
