"We've recently invested in the Cape Verde Islands off West Africa," she says. "We bought a beachfront apartment (for an estimated £212,000) and a three-bedroom town house (for an estimated £280,000), which will be finished next year."

The Bethnal Green-born star, best known for her 1981 Eurovision Song Contest victory with Bucks Fizz, has twin daughters Kyla and Natalie from her 16-year marriage to bass guitarist Steve Stroud. Their family home remains in Ightham outside Sevenoaks.

"We also have a caravan near Rye on the South Coast, which I bought on a whim for £15,000," says Baker.
