Tiger Woods will design his third golf-course project along the oceanfront on the Pacific coastline of Baja California in Mexico...
He has also worked on designing courses in North
Carolina and Dubai.
The luxury scheme, called Punta Brava, will be situated on the tip of a
peninsula south of Ensenada, around 70 miles
south of San Diego,
and will be constructed by the Flagship Group.
The development will feature around 125 residential units with prices starting
from £1.7 million. Additionally, there will be a clubhouse, restaurant, spa and
a 20-unit private hotel. There will also be a private airport situated about 20
minutes away.
Completion is earmarked for 2011. Off-plan residential sales
have just been launched.
Investing in property next to a signature course, particularly those endorsed
by a renowned professional golfer, such as Tiger Woods, can often raise the
profile of a development, and help boost demand.
Furthermore, Woods has put his
name to very few projects, maintaining the exclusiveness of the product.
Woods told the Wall Street Journal,
"My plan is only to do a select few. I don't have a lot of time to do a whole
bunch of golf courses. I devote so much of my time to these. I'm a hands-on
kind of person. I always want to do the best that I can in all of my life and
this is no different.
"I'm trying to build a challenging golf course that people will remember and
also make Brady (Oman,
principal of Flagship Group) happy on his end.
"I just wanted to do something that was on this amazing piece of property.
Brady allowed me to work on this project.
"It's been unbelievable. It's so beautiful there. You see the ocean from all the 18 holes. That's something we didn't ever want to lose," Woods added.
