Low-cost carrier Jetstar says it will significantly increase flights out of Melbourne and Sydney as part of a planned 30 per cent boost to capacity in 2010-11...

Jetstar, which is wholly owned by Qantas Airways, says an additional 45 flights a week out of the cities will be added from December.

Adelaide will be the main beneficiary, with Jetstar to operate 21 flights a week on the Melbourne-Adelaide and Sydney-Adelaide routes. Group chief executive Bruce Buchanan said the airline was now at record capacity for Adelaide.

Among the other changes, Sydney-Brisbane will move to four flights a day and Melbourne-Brisbane will increase to three a day.

Extra flights will also be provided from Sydney to Townsville and Ballina on the NSW north coast, and from Melbourne to Newcastle.
