The two-bedroom Kew Bridge Court property cost £430 a week from Residential Land, central London's largest private landlord.

The award-winning star of BBC1's The Fast Show and ITV's Cold Feet normally lives in West Didsbury, a five-mile commute to Coronation Street's Castleford studios, where he films his latest role as electrician turned children's entertainer Jesse Chadwick.

Adopted at eight weeks and raised near Preston, Thomson is married to former model Sam Sharp, mother of his daughter Olivia.
