The Government has revealed details of its new homes building plans for the north-west of England under its regional spacial strategy...
Communities Minister Baroness Andrews set out a plan today that is intended to deliver an extra 413,000 homes to the region by 2021.
She said, "The north-west needs a long-term strategy for boosting its economy, addressing housing need and protecting the environment by tackling climate change.
The regional spacial strategy is intended to marry up development such as the creation of new homes with economic and transport developments.
Manchester, Salford and Liverpool are identified as having the greatest housing need, with Manchester and Liverpool given priority and the urban area around central Lancashire also focused upon.
Earlier this week, the Office for National Statistics data obtained by Halifax Bank of Scotland showed that in the decade after 1997 the only local Government district in the north-west to see its population increase by over 10 per cent was the city of Manchester.
