Capalbio is already a well known quality tourist area. In the summer it offers a variety of cultural activities including a film festival and art displays in the historic castle. Other local attractions include WWF Oasis and visitor centre ( www.parco-maremma.it/web/natura/riserve_oasi/lago_burano.htm ), the Giardino dei Tarocchi ( www.nikidesaintphalle.com ), the Etruscan Castle at Vulci ( www.vulci.it ) or old town of Osa. Famous for its Butteri cowboys, the area also has a tradition of horse riding and pony trekking and a vast network of scenic paths.

The Maremma region is also reknowned for it’s local cuisine and wines, including the local Ansonica DOC, ideal for fish dishes, or Morellino di Scansano DOC.

Capalbio is on the main train line between Rome and Pisa offering easy access also to Florence. By car, Rome (120 km) is just over an hour away and Florence 2 hours. In under an hour’s drive are the winter skiing facilities of Monte Amiata (1700 mt), the Spa town of Saturnia with its curative thermal waters and many attractive hilltop towns and Etruscan historic sites. Local tourist ports provide ideal facilities for sailing enthusiasts.
