In the first place, the views have to be mentioned: the house is situated at the hill site, above most of the houses of the village, and from every place in the house, on all floors, one has large views over the village, the dunes and over kilometers of ocean.

The plot is walled with handmade granit walls. The granit of the region is also used for the entrance-stairs and most of the structure of the house. Going to the main door, the herbes-garden and some well chosen flowers give a special scent, especially in the evenings.

One enters the house at the first floor, in a spacious over 50sq:m. room with tv, 2 large coaches, an armchair, a table, chairs, a drawer, and a wood stove (although there is central heating). Through a small hall, one reaches the kitchen and the larger hall, both having a door to the living-dining-sitting room with a drawer, table and chairs in one part, coaches and armchairs near the open fire place, and a loggia overlooking the south site of the plot, swimming pool and the southern part of the village. From every spot one has wide and spectacular ocean-views. From the larger hall one goes to the mezzanine with a toilet, next to the laundry with washing machine, deepfreezer, shower, space to iron and, seperately, wine cellar. Up to the first floor, it goes through a long corridor with 6 meters of build-in drawers to the 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. The bedrooms have hand-sculpted beds and furniture in portuguese chestnut, handpainted battic curtains and build-in drawers with french oak doors. The bathroom's walls are covered with handpainted Viuva Lamego tiles. From the central hall, a staircase takes one to the groundfloor and the master bedroom, a large study, a bathroom and a shower made with blue Brazilian granit. Outside there is a pool (12 x 7,5m. x 3 depths: 0,9m- 1,4m.-2,5m.), terraces, granit paths up the hill of the 5000 sq.m. plot, the garage, for at least 2 cars + bikes, etc., a Japanese garden, a water reservoir with automatic sprayer system for the garden and a 50sq.m. hardwood terrace with a roof in cedar shingles, from where the views are still wider than from the house.

Location:

Afife is situated at the atlantic ocean, 10km north of Viana do Castelo and 45km south of the Portuguese-Spanish border between the Minho provence and Galicia.  It is a small village with less than 200 peoples living there permanently, very quiet and, even in summer, not crowded by tourists.

Nearby Villa Praia de Ancora, a fishermens village offers a daily fishmarket, even on Sundays. In Caminha, 10km south, there is a ferryboot for people and cars to the peninsula of La Guardia, Galicia, Spain.

Afife's main assets are its beaches :

•  a Praia das Inglesas (the beach of the English girls) with its flat beach and gentle waves ideal for the little kids 
• a Praia do Bico: known for the windsurfing contest for the portuguese championship 
• a Praia de Afife: a kilometers long and real wide beach, guarded by safe-guards 
• a Praia dos Salmoes: very quiet
• a Praia da Gelfa: higher iodium concentration than most Portuguese beaches and its hills and "mountain" for mountain biking, hiking and walking.

Airports

It is approximately 1 hour drive by car to Porto-airport and city and 1 hour drive to the Vigo-airport and city.

Surroundings

Braga is less tha 1 hour drive To Santiago de Compostela is 1.5 hours, two hours to la Coruna and Coimbra. Lisbon is around 4 hours. Parque natural do Geres: 1.5 hours Rias Baixas Vigo and Pontevedra : 1-2hours Port Wine growing region : 1.5-2 hours

COSTA VERDE North of Viana Do Castelo to Caminha, there are a series of beautifull beaches such as Praia Norte, Areosa, Carreço, Afife, Vila Praia de Ancora, Moledo and Caminha, all within a distance of less than 10 km of Afife. From Afife itself, one can all the way over the different beaches to the south to praia Norte and to the north to Caminha. Biking can be done through the farmlands and dunes. Mountain biking and hiking in hills and mountains is very beautifull in the triangle between Viana do Castelo, Caminha and Ponte de Lima.
