The villa is very modern, having been constructed in 2001 to take advantage of the fine views and day round sunshine.

Situated on the island’s south east coast snuggling between a valley and a bay, Machico was the first settlement on the island when João Gonçalves Zargo landed in the bay in 1419. Although designated as the second city of Madeira, it is really a large town. An excellent road infrastructure provides quick access to all parts of the island. Madeira International Airport is only 10 minutes drive, and the capital Funchal, can be reached in 20 minutes using the fast new dual carriageway. This provides a unique opportunity to live away from the traffic and noise of the capital, yet be within easy each of it.

Approximately 10 minutes drive is the Santo da Serra Golf Course. This magnificent golf complex includes 27 holes designed by the famous golf architect Robert Trent Jones and is home of the Madeira Island Open, part of the PGA European Tour. The course offers spectacular views of mountains, valleys and the best of Madeira’s dramatic coastline. Down by the bay, a marina together with bars and restaurants have been recently constructed to a very high standard. The new Albatroz Beach & Yacht Club has recently been built and is situated close by.
