WHY DALAMAN?

The town of Dalaman on the west coast of Turkey is becoming an up and coming destination in its own right with great growth potential. Previously used solely as a gateway to the other main tourist resorts along this section of coastline, Dalaman has been pin-pointed as having much to offer as well as being centrally located to visit other great places of interest within a 20 minutes drive.
The brand new International Terminal and extension of Dalaman Airport has been constructed ready for the Summer 2006 season and the whole area is undergoing a transformation as land remained cheaper here due to the lack of a tourist infrastructure.
Turkey's tourism sector primarily focused further afield, on the notorious port of Göcek where the rich and famous moor their luxury yachts and cruisers for a night or two whilst sailing the Med. Also in Fethiye, a further 30 minutes down the coast with its busy harbour, history, charm, and access to three of the most popular destinations, the most famous being the beach and blue lagoon at Ölüdeniz.
To the North of Dalaman lies Sarigerme and Dalyan. Both famous for their beautiful beaches, eco-friendly ethos, historical tombs and Cities, hidden bays, and preservation of nature. Sarigerme has grown over the last couple of years due to massive investment and has become very popular due to its proximity to Dalaman Airport, its 7 kilometre stretch of sandy beach, calm waters lapping the shore, and a backdrop of pine tree covered hillsides and mountains.
With so much to offer in this region, the Turkish Government has recently recognised that Dalaman itself has remained somewhat neglected and deserves the financial support necessary to bring it to the forefront. Dalaman has now been designated as an area for tourism development by the Government with plans to create up to five Marinas and a golf course. The extension of the airport was the first step in this plan to convert the airport to international status rather than military and to therefore be accessible all year round.
With property prices escalating in the main tourist resorts, it is easy to see the growth potential of any investment in the Dalaman area once this infrastructure has been put in place. Now is the time to jump on the property ladder in this area before prices spiral out of reach.
With an existing, functioning town centre incorporating banks, post office services, hospitals, chemists, shops, lokantas / restaurants, hotels, schools, Turkish Bath and a busy bus station linking to all surrounding villages and towns, the foundations are already in place. The developments planned in relation to golfing, health spas and resorts with thermal pools and holistic therapies, sporting activities including windsurfing, diving and white water rafting and getting back to nature with horse-riding, trekking and cycling can only take this area from strength to strength and increase its appeal as an unspoilt haven to enjoy and absorb whilst maximising the chance to wisely increase ones investment potential.
