Property Description

Magnificent 12th century priory on the threshold of Lourmarin with 11.6 hectares including working AOC listed vineyards.

Situated on the gentle slopes of the Southern Luberon, not far from the emblematic villages of Lourmarin, Cucuron and Ansouis, this extremely rare
vineyard property, with its 12th century priory and Gothic chapel, offers a unique living environment at just 30 min from Aix-en-Provence.

The property and its priory come laden with history, having once been the possession of the abbey of Saint Andrew of Villeneuveles-Avignon, approved by Pope Gelasius II. After the French Revolution, the property was seized by the state then sold on and converted into a silkworm farm and vineyard.

With its Gothic chapel, its internal courtyard and its vaulted Rognes stone ceilings, the priory has become one of the emblematic sites of the region. Now converted to a family residence, the priory offers 700 m2 of living space with vaulted living rooms and numerous bedrooms and apartments.

Despite its Gothic architecture and rich history, the priory is not listed as a Historic Monument.

Located 200 m from the priory, the winery has been built partly underground and has a total capacity of 1 200 hl in cement and stainless steel tanks. The winery is spacious, functional and well equipped. It also provides excellent storage conditions for bottled wines. The winery is fully equipped (Vaslin wine press, crusher/de-stemmer, labelling machine, piston pump…).

The priory farms 11.6 ha of contiguous vines. 7.7 ha are owned and 3.8 ha are farmed through a tenancy agreement. The entire vineyard is classed AOP Lubéron.

The grape varieties planted are of high quality, with 8 ha planted with Grenache and Syrah. The vineyard is well maintained and farmed through sustainable agriculture. The vineyard enables production of a range of red, white and rose wines. Average yields are around 50 hl/ha.

The wine is sold in bottle via the hotel/restaurant network and through the on-site shop to a regular, tourist-based clientele.
