Property Description

For sale direct from the owners!

This stylish and truly unique village house has been lovingly updated by the current owners.  With great artistic flair, the house has been modernised completely and creates a beautiful blend of style and contemporary finishes with the charm and character that comes with a traditional Spanish village house.

The layout is flexible with three floors which can be used as you wish – currently, the owner has a bedroom on the yop floor and a flexible living room with day bed on the middle floor. A stylish kitchen and shower room are on the ground floor. The middle floor could easily be used as a bedroom with the top floor benefiting from an open fronted terrace space.

The options are entirely dependent on how you see your future in the property.

The house is in the heart of the village which is located in the mountains above the Costa Tropical and the town of Motril. The village has a local bar and a medical centre and the other villages that form Los Guajares have further amenities within easy reach.

The village is surrounded by stunning countryside with walking and cycling particularly popular in the area. This is an unspoilt region and therefore many people enjoy integrating into local life and making the most of the beautiful countryside available – walking, cycling, nature lovers and artists are all attracted to the area.

This region is called Los Guajares and alongside Guajar Fondon are two sister villages including Guajar Faraguit which is home to the local town hall and has a bank.  The third village is called Guajar Alto and is the highest of the three villages.

The layout of the house…

The house is set across three floors and there is great flexibility in terms of how you use the space on the upper two floors.  On the ground floor is a stylish and contemporary reformed kitchen and for a relatively small space, the kitchen packs a lot into it with plenty of high gloss storage units, a hidden washing machine, granite worktops, a hob, fridge and tall storage.  The traditional beams have been replaced and painted white to create a light and bright space.

There is space for  breakfast bar/table and the current owners also use the terrace for cosy al fresco dining.

There is a great connection with the village and your immediate neighbours with the front door and a window on this level.

A door from the kitchen leads to a beautifully modernised shower room with designer W.C. wash hand basin and dual head shower. Mosaic tiled flooring creates a contemporary feel and there is sufficient shelf space for storage etc.

Stairs rise up from the kitchen to the middle floor.

This level is flexible with a living room and double doors opening to a Juliet balcony. The room is home to a day bed so there is the ability for a dual use space. A beamed ceiling and simple flooring give the room a fresh feel.

A further set of stairs rise up to the second floor which is used as a bedroom.  This room has, in the past, also been used as a living room so the choice of layout is entirely flexible. A wooden floor gives the room modernity and a light, bright feel.  Storage is built in.

Double doors open onto a covered terrace which really extends the living space in the house – whilst not large, this terrace is open to the front and is a great space to enjoy a G&T whilst overlooking the village.

This charming house would suit anyone with an artistic flair who is seeking a peaceful and relaxing environment to enjoy this traditional part of Spain. The house has been modernised with great detail and care however, with two sets of stairs, the property is probably not suited to the elderly, infirm or children.

Guajar Fondon and Los Guajares

Guajar Fondon is a typically Spanish mountain village, the first of the three villages in this area. Here, you will experience the traditions of the real Spain, the religious processions, the goat herders, the ringing of the church bells, and the annual music festival. Delivery vans come frequently with all manner of goods, including fish, cakes on Saturdays and of course the daily bread delivery. Neighbours will invite you to share in the grape and avocado picking, and you can experience the harvesting of the olives and almonds.

There is a limited bus service available to and from the village but a car is pretty much essential, especially for exploring this beautiful area.

If you love walking, this is a great area to explore on foot, and there is a walk from the village that takes you up to the ruins of a castle, which will give you a wonderful view of the area. The moment you leave the house, you will find walking routes in whichever direction you turn. You can take a short but steep walk to Guajar Faraguit where you can visit the local bar for food and refreshments. It is here you will find the pharmacy, bank and the town hall.

Motril, is the nearest town, but if you have transport the thriving towns of Salobrena and Almuñécar are waiting to be explored, with their cafes and restaurants, markets and of course the beaches.

This is a relatively unexplored area, rather untouched by tourism which makes it very special.
